Real Madrid Complete €140m Signing of Ivorian Teenager Yan Diomande
Real Madrid have completed the signing of highly rated Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal that could rise to €140 million.
The 19-year-old attacker has signed a seven-year contract with the Spanish giants as Real Madrid continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The transfer places Diomande among the club’s most expensive signings and highlights the growing reputation of the young Ivorian following his impressive breakthrough campaign in Germany.
Diomande attracted widespread attention during the 2025–26 season after producing 12 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga. His overall record across all competitions was even more impressive, with the winger finishing the campaign with 13 goals and 10 assists.
His performances reportedly attracted interest from several European heavyweights.
Paris Saint-Germain were believed to be among the leading contenders for his signature but ended their pursuit after their €120 million offer was rejected.
Liverpool also showed interest in the youngster as they searched for attacking reinforcements, reportedly submitting an initial offer of £69 million.
However, Real Madrid ultimately won the race for the highly sought-after winger.
Diomande joins Real Madrid after rapid rise
The Ivory Coast international’s rise to the top level has been remarkably quick.
After leaving his home country to join an academy in the United States, Diomande moved to Spain in 2025, where he joined Leganés.
His development continued rapidly before RB Leipzig secured his services later that year.
At Leipzig, the teenager established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young attackers and was named the league’s Young Player of the Season.

His pace, close control, dribbling ability and versatility have made him a dangerous option in the final third.
Diomande can operate on either wing, giving Real Madrid additional flexibility in attack.
Diomande impresses at World Cup
The youngster also made his mark on the international stage with Ivory Coast.
He featured in all four of the Elephants’ matches at the FIFA World Cup, helping the team reach the quarter-finals before their campaign ended with defeat to Norway.
His performances further strengthened his reputation as one of the brightest emerging talents in European football.
Real Madrid continue summer rebuilding
Diomande becomes the sixth major addition to Real Madrid’s squad during the summer transfer window.
He joins a group that includes Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi.
The Spanish champions are hoping Diomande’s combination of speed, creativity and attacking versatility will add another dimension to their forward line.
With a seven-year deal in place, Real Madrid are also making a long-term investment in a player they believe can develop into one of the club’s leading stars.
At just 19, Diomande now has the opportunity to establish himself at one of the biggest clubs in world football and continue his rapid rise on the European stage.
