The Federal Government has explained how selected vulnerable Nigerian households can receive its ₦50,000 cash grant under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
The programme, implemented by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, aims to support low-income households facing rising living costs.
According to the government, the grant will be paid directly into beneficiaries’ mobile wallets through approved payment providers. These include ALAT, MoMo, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint.
The government said the mobile wallet system would make payments faster and more transparent. It also stated that independent checks would be carried out during each payment cycle.

The process is designed to identify poor and vulnerable households that qualify for the intervention.
However, the government stressed that individuals cannot apply independently or pay to secure a place on the beneficiary list.
It also clarified that the grant will not reach everyone in the first batch of payments. Therefore, some eligible households may not receive an immediate notification.
FG warns Nigerians against ₦50,000 grant scams
The government has warned Nigerians to be careful of fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the relief programme.
It stressed that the ₦50,000 grant is free and that nobody is authorised to demand money in exchange for payment.
According to the programme guidelines, genuine messages must come from one of the approved providers: ALAT, MoMo, NairaGram, OPay or Moniepoint.
The messages will only ask selected beneficiaries to reply YES or use the designated USSD code provided by their payment provider.
