The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday.
The declaration confirms Oyebanji’s return for a second term in office after what officials described as a clear and decisive victory across all 16 local government areas of the state.
According to the Chief Returning Officer for the Ekiti State governorship election, Professor Adenike Oladiji, Oyebanji secured a total of 319,224 votes, defeating his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 40,543 votes.
Oladiji stated that the APC candidate met all constitutional and electoral requirements before being declared the winner. “The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebanji, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes, is hereby declared elected,” she announced during the collation in Ado-Ekiti.
Reacting to his victory in the Ekiti State governorship election, Governor Oyebanji described his re-election as a renewed mandate to serve the people of the state with greater responsibility and commitment.
“I have a proper understanding of the responsibility that this victory has placed on my shoulders. It is a responsibility of service to the people of Ekiti State,” Oyebanji said shortly after the announcement.
He further appreciated residents for their support, stressing that his administration would remain focused on good governance and the welfare of citizens. “We will continue to serve them with courage, compassion, humility and the fear of God,” he added.
Speaking on his plans for a second term, the governor noted that his government would continue implementing the state’s existing development blueprint while remaining open to adjustments where necessary.

“We have a development guide, and we will continue to faithfully implement that plan. At the same time, if there are new issues or areas that require attention, we will review them and ensure they are accommodated,” Oyebanji said.
The outcome of the Ekiti State governorship election has further strengthened the APC’s hold in the state, as political observers say the margin of victory reflects strong voter support for the incumbent administration.
