Osun Election: Oyebamiji, Oyetola Cast Votes as Voting Begins Across State
All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji and former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola have cast their ballots in the ongoing Osun governorship election.
The two prominent APC figures voted at separate polling locations as voters across the state’s 30 local government areas participate in the election to choose the governor who will lead Osun State for the next four years.
Oyetola votes in Iragbiji
Oyetola, who previously served as governor of Osun State and currently serves as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, voted at Ward 1, Unit 10, in Iragbiji, within Boripe Local Government Area.
His participation came as voting commenced across the state, with eligible voters turning out at polling units to exercise their franchise.
Oyebamiji votes in Ikire
The APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also performed his civic duty in Ikire.

Oyebamiji and his wife were accredited at Ward 9, Polling Unit 011, Gantry Area, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area, before casting their ballots.
The voting process is being conducted across the state’s 30 local government areas, with voters choosing among the candidates seeking to govern Osun for the next four years.
Alleged vote buying reported in Ikire
Meanwhile, allegations of vote buying emerged at AUD Primary School in Atile, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area.
According to observations at the polling location, agents linked to both the APC and Accord Party were allegedly positioned around the voting area and monitoring voters during the exercise.
The agents were reportedly watching voters and their ballot papers, with allegations that voters were directed to collect money after casting their ballots.
An Accord Party agent, Ajayi Ayodele, was reported to have accused APC agents of gathering around the polling units to monitor how voters cast their ballots.
However, the report also indicated that Accord Party agents were allegedly involved in the vote-buying activity, with voters reportedly directed to another location after voting to receive money.
The allegations highlight concerns that have historically surrounded electoral contests in Nigeria, particularly attempts by political actors to influence voters through financial inducements.
Osun voters choose next governor
The Osun governorship election is taking place across the state as voters decide who will occupy the governor’s office for the next four years.
The participation of major candidates and political figures, including Oyebamiji and Oyetola, has drawn attention to voting activities in different parts of the state.
As voting continues, attention remains focused on voter turnout, the conduct of polling officials, the effectiveness of the accreditation process and the ability of security agencies to maintain a peaceful and credible election.
