Osun: Adeleke Family to Fund University Scholarships for Election Victims’ Children
The Adeleke family has pledged to provide scholarships up to university level for children and dependants of people who lost their lives during the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, disclosed the family’s plan while reflecting on his electoral victory and his receipt of the Certificate of Return.
Adeleke made the disclosure in a statement shared on his X platform on Wednesday.
The governor said the Certificate of Return represented more than his personal victory. He described it as a symbol of the confidence and determination of the people of Osun State.
He also commended residents for standing firm in defence of democracy during the election.

“Yesterday, I received my Certificate of Return with a heart full of gratitude and humility. This certificate does not belong to Ademola Adeleke alone; it belongs to the good people of Osun State who stood firm and defended our democracy,” he said.
However, Adeleke said the celebration should also honour those who lost their lives and others affected by electoral violence.

The governor disclosed that the Osun State Government had established a N500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to assist people affected by violence during the electoral process.
According to Adeleke, the government’s initiative would be complemented by the Adeleke family’s scholarship programme.
The family plans to support the education of children and dependants of people who died during the August 15 governorship election, with the scholarships extending through university.
“As we celebrate, we must also remember those who lost their lives and those affected by electoral violence,” Adeleke said.
He added that the government had launched the N500 million fund, while the Adeleke family would provide scholarships for the children and dependants of those who died.
The governor also thanked the people of Osun State for their courage, support and renewed confidence in his administration.
He said the electoral victory belonged to the people and called for collective efforts to move the state forward.
“This victory belongs to you. This certificate belongs to you. Osun, we move forward together,” Adeleke added.
