NAF, Navy Divers Recover More Aircraft Parts in Ondo
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have recovered additional aircraft components from the site of an aircraft accident in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The recovery operation is ongoing as specialist divers continue searching underwater for more parts and materials linked to the accident involving a NAF ATR 42-500 aircraft.
The Air Force confirmed the development on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. It said the joint team was working to locate and recover materials needed for the ongoing investigation.

The operation continues day and night. It also uses hydrographic surveys and satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery to support the search.
These methods help teams assess the area and identify locations that may contain aircraft components.
Water Removal and Excavation Support Recovery
The recovery team has also deployed equipment and methods to improve access to difficult areas.
These include excavating mud and pumping out excess water. The measures are intended to help divers and other personnel reach relevant parts of the site.
The NAF said additional aircraft components had already been recovered. However, the search remains underway as the team works to retrieve more materials.
Recovered Parts to Support Investigation
The agencies are collecting the recovered components for documentation and preservation.
These materials may support the ongoing investigation into the aircraft accident. Their examination and proper handling are important to the investigative process.
The NAF has not provided further details about the recovered components in the statement contained in the report.
The multi-agency operation is expected to continue as specialists search the site for additional aircraft materials.
