One Killed After Clash Involving Davido’s Security Team in Osogbo
One person has been killed following a clash between suspected thugs and security personnel attached to Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in Osogbo, Osun State.
The incident occurred after Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the Ataoja of Osogbo’s palace. The governor was accompanied by his nephew, Davido, during the courtesy visit to the traditional ruler.
According to reports, gunshots erupted after a confrontation between two groups outside the palace. The governor’s security team reportedly intervened by firing shots into the air and using tear gas to disperse the suspected thugs.
The intervention allowed the governor’s convoy to leave the palace safely with Davido.
Davido reacts to Osogbo palace clash
Reacting to the incident, Davido said the clash had nothing to do with him or the governor.
In a post on X, the singer said the fight happened outside the palace and was unrelated to their visit. He also expressed support for Governor Adeleke.
The Osun State Police Command later provided details about what triggered the confrontation. Police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said a suspected political thug identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged”, attempted to gain access to Davido.
According to the police, Davido’s security personnel resisted the attempt. The confrontation reportedly attracted members of the suspect’s cult group, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Ojelabi said the suspected thugs temporarily blocked the palace entrance but were eventually overpowered by Davido’s security details. The governor’s convoy subsequently left the area.
60-year-old man shot dead in Osogbo
The suspected cult gang reportedly moved towards the Ayepe area after leaving the palace. Police said a 60-year-old man identified as Tajudeen Yusuf was later shot in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo.
The police spokesperson confirmed the shooting and said an investigation had commenced.
Police Commissioner (Election), Samuel Etaifo, also said resources would be deployed to apprehend the suspect linked to the killing.
The incident comes amid heightened political activity in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with authorities expected to intensify efforts to prevent violence and maintain public safety.
