The Super Falcons will step up preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a pre-WAFCON friendly against Ghana’s Black Queens on Saturday in Casablanca, Morocco.
Nigeria, the reigning African champions, began camping in Morocco on Monday ahead of the tournament, which gets underway next Sunday.
The friendly against Ghana is expected to provide head coach Justine Madugu with an opportunity to assess his squad before their opening Group C fixture.
The encounter will take place at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
Super Falcons Continue Tournament Preparations
The nine-time? No—Nigeria’s 10-time African champions held their first training session on Tuesday at Stade Larbi Zaouli after opening camp in Casablanca.
By Tuesday afternoon, several key members of the squad had already arrived at the team’s Marriott Hotel, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, star striker Asisat Oshoala, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Fatima Oloko, defenders Oluwatosin Demehin, Glory Ogbonna, Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran.
Midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Jennifer Echegini also joined the camp, while midfielder Toni Payne, who recently completed a move from Everton Women to Inter Milan Women, was expected to arrive on Wednesday.
Madugu and his coaching staff will use the pre-WAFCON friendly to build team chemistry and make final tactical adjustments before the competition begins.
Ghana Test Comes Before Group C Campaign
The clash against Ghana revives one of Africa’s biggest women’s football rivalries. The Black Queens were beaten by the Super Falcons in the final of the inaugural Women’s Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Nigeria in 1998.
Following Saturday’s friendly, Nigeria will turn full attention to their Group C fixtures at the tournament.

With expectations high for another successful continental outing, Saturday’s meeting with Ghana offers the Super Falcons an important opportunity to sharpen their form and build momentum before their quest for another WAFCON title begins.
