Court Bars Hope Uzodinma from Claiming APC Imo West Senatorial Ticket, Declares Okorocha Winner
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order after ruling that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary held on May 18, 2026.
According to a report by Channels Television, the judge said evidence presented before the court showed that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the primary election, which was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Court Orders APC to Submit Okorocha’s Name
Delivering judgment on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Justice Egwuatu held that Okorocha should be recognised as the winner of the APC primary for the Imo West Senatorial District.
The court consequently directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name as its candidate for the 2027 general election in the senatorial district.
