Angélique Kidjo to become first African musician with Hollywood Walk of Fame star
Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo is set to make history as the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
According to Billboard, Kidjo will receive the honour in the Recording category during a ceremony at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
The recognition will also make her the first Black African to receive a star on the famous Hollywood landmark.
Actor Willem Dafoe and music executive Harvey Mason Jr. are expected to speak at the ceremony.
Kidjo, a five-time Grammy Award winner, has built a successful international career spanning music, African culture and humanitarian advocacy.
Through her music, she has promoted African culture while supporting several social and humanitarian causes.

Her Hollywood Walk of Fame honour adds to a long list of international achievements and further highlights the growing influence of African music on the global stage.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a major Los Angeles landmark. It features more than 2,800 terrazzo-and-brass stars dedicated to notable figures in entertainment.
Each star is a permanent, five-pointed monument embedded in the sidewalk. The honour recognises major achievements across the entertainment industry.
