Wizkid Remembers Mother Three Years After Her Death
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has remembered his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, three years after her death.
Wizkid marked the anniversary on X with a brief tribute featuring the number “3” and a dove emoji. The post reflected on the passing of his mother, who died in August 2023.
Jane Dolapo Balogun died in the early hours of Friday, August 18, 2023. Wizkid’s longtime manager, Sunday Aare, confirmed her death at the time.
Her death sparked an outpouring of tributes from fellow artistes, celebrities, fans and other members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Many expressed their condolences to Wizkid and his family.
The singer had previously opened up about the emotional impact of losing his mother during her wake-keep ceremony. Wizkid described the experience as the deepest pain he had ever felt and prayed for comfort for himself and his family.
