Blake Lively Settles Lawsuit With Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively has settled the high-profile lawsuit tied to the 2024 film It Ends With Us. This agreement ends her legal dispute with co-star Justin Baldoni.
The case had drawn wide attention across Hollywood. Notably, the settlement came just weeks before the trial in New York federal court.
The agreement brings the case to a close. Lively first filed the lawsuit in 2024. She accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and misconduct.
She also claimed he took part in a smear campaign during and after the film’s production. The movie, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, focuses on domestic abuse. In it, Lively plays the lead role of Lily Bloom.
Meanwhile, attorneys for both actors confirmed the settlement in a joint statement. They described the film as a source of pride. In addition, they stressed the need to raise awareness about domestic violence survivors. This, they said, remains a shared goal.
Furthermore, the statement addressed the legal process. “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms Lively deserved to be heard,” it read. It also noted that both sides support respectful and safe work environments in future productions.
In conclusion, the statement expressed hope that the agreement would bring closure. It added that all parties can now move forward peacefully.
A Legal Battle That Gripped Hollywood
The dispute between the co-stars quickly grew into one of Hollywood’s most-watched legal battles in recent years. Lively alleged that Baldoni, along with his production company Wayfarer Studios, created a hostile work environment. She also claimed they later tried to damage her reputation through coordinated media narratives.
In addition, her legal team accused the studio of using social media strategies and media contacts to influence public opinion. These claims pointed to a serious conflict behind the scenes. This stood in contrast to the film’s message about domestic violence and survival.
However, Baldoni denied all the allegations. Instead, he filed counterclaims. He accused Lively and her associates of defamation. He also claimed they tried to damage his career.
Moreover, his lawsuits named Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and other public figures. He argued they helped spread a negative narrative about him.

Even so, the court dismissed many of Baldoni’s claims earlier in the year. As a result, the case narrowed before both sides reached a settlement.
At the same time, the legal process drew strong public interest. The court reviewed private messages, emails, and other communications. These details involved both actors and members of their professional circles.
Earlier, Lively had prepared to testify in court. Reynolds was also expected to appear. The trial had been set for May 18. However, the settlement has now removed the need for those appearances.
Court Developments Before the Agreement
Before the settlement, the court issued a key ruling. Last month, a judge dismissed most of Lively’s claims. These included harassment and defamation allegations. However, the judge allowed limited claims to continue. These included retaliation and breach of contract.
At the same time, the judge dismissed Baldoni’s separate defamation lawsuit. This decision changed the direction of the case. It narrowed the legal arguments on both sides. As a result, it opened the door for settlement talks.
Previously, Lively had spoken about her reasons for filing the case. She said she wanted to address retaliation after raising workplace concerns. In addition, her legal team argued that the case exposed harmful industry practices.
Following the ruling, many observers expected a settlement. Both sides faced the possibility of testifying in court. Therefore, an agreement became more likely.
Now, with the settlement complete, both Lively and Baldoni have chosen to move forward. They have closed a chapter that brought attention to the production of It Ends With Us and the events that followed.
