Nigerian singer and songwriter Brymo has made fresh allegations against Burna Boy, claiming the Grammy-winning artist did not earn his prestigious award on merit but instead bought it.
Speaking during an interview with digital media platform NotJustOkay, Brymo revisited his long-running dispute with Burna Boy and maintained that he has no intention of mentioning the singer in any of his songs because he does not consider him significant enough.
Reflecting on Burna Boy’s 2023 freestyle, where the Afrobeats star rapped, “Hustle so you no go fall off like Brymo,” the singer said he found the lyric surprising.
“I was surprised that he’s flying so far, and he didn’t realise how mediocre that was. I shouldn’t be that important. I told him in the tweet, and I told him in the Bae U interview as well that his name will never appear in my songs,” Brymo said.
The singer went further by questioning Burna Boy’s Grammy success, alleging that the award was purchased.
“Your name will never appear on my songs ever. You were given a Grammy; what is my concern? It was bought. I have been told to pay $10,000 before for a BET award,” he said while speaking in a mix of Pidgin English and Yoruba.
Brymo also questioned Burna Boy’s songwriting, singing, and performance abilities, adding that he still feels offended by the singer and intends to settle the score.
It is important to note that Brymo did not provide any evidence to support his claims regarding the Grammy Award or the alleged offer to purchase a BET Award. Burna Boy has also not publicly responded to these latest allegations.
The Feud Between Brymo and Burna Boy Continues
The latest comments add another chapter to the public rivalry between the two musicians, which dates back to 2023.
The disagreement began after Brymo accused Burna Boy of using ideas from his unreleased project Macabre. According to Brymo, songs including City Boy and I Told Them borrowed from material that had been privately shared before Burna Boy released his seventh studio album.
At the time, Brymo also made several allegations on social media, including claims that Burna Boy sent people to intimidate him. He further accused fellow music stars Davido and 2Baba of holding personal grievances against him.
Burna Boy later responded during a rehearsal freestyle in November 2023, where he repeated the line, “Hustle make you no go fall off like Brymo,” keeping the exchange in the public eye.
Fresh Remarks Suggest No End to the Rivalry
Despite the years that have passed since their disagreement first became public, Brymo insists the conflict is far from over.
In the same interview, he maintained that Burna Boy’s name would never feature in his music and suggested that the industry’s biggest stars should move beyond competing over commercial success.

His latest comments come after previous criticism of Burna Boy and other leading Afrobeats artists, where he urged them to pursue more creative direction instead of focusing on becoming the biggest pop stars.
With Brymo once again making serious allegations and declaring that he intends to continue confronting Burna Boy, there appears to be no immediate end in sight for one of Nigeria’s most talked-about music rivalries.
