The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has dismissed viral reports claiming that the actor has died.
The family described the reports as false after a social media post claimed that one of Ogogo’s daughters had announced his death following an alleged rejection by several hospitals.
The rumour circulated on Tuesday and quickly gained attention online.
Ogogo’s daughter dismisses viral death claim
Ogogo’s daughter, Lima Taiwo, reacted to the reports on Instagram and urged the public to stop spreading the claim.
Lima described the report as fake and said the family had not announced the actor’s death.
Her clarification came shortly after she and her sister, Kira Taiwo, publicly appealed for medical assistance for their father.
Ogogo battling stage-four cancer
The veteran actor is currently battling stage-four cancer, according to his daughters.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Lima said the family discovered the severity of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks before the appeal for assistance.
She explained that his physical appearance had initially made the seriousness of his illness difficult to recognise.
Lima said the family was not asking for financial donations. Instead, they were seeking access to hospitals and medical specialists who could help treat the actor.
Family seeks medical help for veteran actor
Kira Taiwo also appealed to cancer specialists, hospitals and other medical professionals to assist the family.
She said doctors had informed them that the hospital managing Ogogo’s condition could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the advanced stage of the disease.

Despite the difficult situation, Kira said the family remained determined to find appropriate medical care for their father.
