Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has secured another landmark achievement after being named the executive producer and curator of the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone.
The appointment marks the first time the award-winning star will oversee the creative direction of a movie soundtrack album, further expanding her influence beyond music.
Joining the production is fellow Grammy winner Burna Boy, who has been announced as the executive consultant for the soundtrack project.
His role is expected to help shape the album’s artistic direction and ensure it reflects the rich cultural themes at the heart of the film.
Tems announced as executive producer for Children of Blood and Bone soundtrack
The announcement places Tems at the centre of one of Hollywood’s biggest upcoming fantasy productions. Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, Children of Blood and Bone is inspired by West African culture and Yoruba mythology, telling the story of a young heroine determined to restore magic to her oppressed people.
Director Gina Prince-Bythewood confirmed that Tems has recorded three original songs exclusively for the film while also bringing Afrobeats stars BNXN and Fireboy DML into the soundtrack project.
Speaking about the soundtrack, Prince-Bythewood said it would be deeply rooted in Afrobeats while blending cinematic orchestral music with traditional African sounds.
The score is being composed by acclaimed jazz musician Terence Blanchard, whose previous works include Malcolm X and BlacKkKlansman.
The film features an impressive international cast led by Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, Regina King, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Tosin Cole and Amandla Stenberg.
Nigerian stars Ayra Starr, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Pamilerin Ayodeji and Shamz Garuba are also part of the production.
Burna Boy brings experience as executive consultant
Burna Boy’s appointment as executive consultant reunites him with Tems following their contributions to Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
Tems previously earned an Academy Award nomination for co-writing Rihanna’s emotional ballad “Lift Me Up,” while Burna Boy’s song “Alone” became one of the standout tracks from the blockbuster soundtrack.
With both artists now leading the music direction for Children of Blood and Bone, expectations are high that the soundtrack will capture the film’s African identity while appealing to a global audience.

The movie follows Zélie Adebola as she embarks on a dangerous journey to restore the magic stolen from her people.
Alongside her brother Tzain and unexpected royal allies Amari and Inan, she faces the ruthless King Saran in a battle that will determine the future of the kingdom of Orïsha.
Tems announced as executive producer is already generating excitement among fans of both Afrobeats and fantasy cinema, as the soundtrack promises a powerful blend of contemporary African music and cinematic storytelling. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 15 January 2027.
