Nigerian music superstar Davido has officially announced the release date for ORIADE, confirming that his highly anticipated sixth studio album will arrive on July 31, 2026.
The announcement has generated widespread excitement among fans, who have been waiting for the singer’s next major project following the success of his previous releases.
The Davido announces release date for ORIADE announcement came through the singer’s social media platforms, where he shared a cinematic teaser featuring himself dressed in regal Yoruba attire.
The clip was accompanied by a powerful Yoruba eulogy that reflected the meaning and symbolism behind the album’s title.
“The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne,” Davido wrote while unveiling the release date.
The upcoming project will serve as Davido’s sixth studio album and seventh major body of work since he rose to prominence more than a decade ago.
Throughout his career, the award-winning artist has remained one of Africa’s biggest music exports, earning global recognition for his contribution to the growth of Afrobeats.
ORIADE Reflects Davido’s Royal Heritage
The album title ORIADE carries deep cultural significance. Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, comes from the prominent Adeleke family of Ede in Osun State, a lineage known for its royal heritage and influence.
The word “Oriade” is commonly associated with royalty and translates to “the crowned head” or “the king.” By choosing the title, Davido appears to be embracing both his ancestral roots and the remarkable position he has attained in African music.
Over the years, the singer has built an impressive catalogue of chart-topping songs while helping project Nigerian music to audiences across the world. His latest album title continues that narrative by celebrating identity, heritage, and achievement.
New Single Builds Momentum Ahead of Album Release
Before unveiling the album, Davido released his first single of 2026, “I Know Who I Be,” featuring South African artists JAZZWRLD and GL Ceejay.
The song continues his exploration of South Africa’s evolving three-step sound, a style he previously embraced on the hit collaboration “Nakupenda.”
The release has also increased anticipation for what fans can expect from the full album, including possible collaborations and the official tracklist, which are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Earlier this year, Davido revealed that his next album would place greater emphasis on celebrating Nigerian and African music, suggesting that ORIADE will feature sounds that resonate strongly with audiences across the continent.
