Wizkid Reportedly Nears 12 Billion Spotify Streams, Sets New African Music Milestone
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid is being credited with approaching a historic milestone of 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, although independent tracking platforms have yet to confirm that he has crossed the mark.
If verified, the achievement would make Wizkid the first African artist to reach 12 billion Spotify streams across lead and featured appearances, according to reports circulating among fans.
Independent Trackers Show Different Figures
The fan-run account WizStatz reported that Wizkid had reached the 12-billion-stream milestone in October 2026. However, figures published by independent streaming tracker Kworb showed a lower total.
Kworb’s October 25, 2026 update listed the singer’s streams at 11,656,624,913, leaving a gap between the tracker’s figures and the milestone reported by fans.
The term “across all credits” includes streams from songs where Wizkid is the lead artist as well as tracks on which he appears as a featured performer.
According to the milestone timeline shared by fans, the singer crossed 10 billion streams in January 2026 and 11 billion in May before reportedly reaching 12 billion in October.
Drake’s ‘One Dance’ Boosts Wizkid’s Streaming Numbers
One of the biggest contributors to Wizkid’s global streaming success is One Dance, the 2016 hit by Canadian rapper Drake, featuring Wizkid and British singer Kyla.
The song became a global hit and has reportedly accumulated more than 4.5 billion Spotify streams, according to independent tracking figures. Its continued popularity has helped sustain Wizkid’s presence on the platform years after its release.
Although One Dance was not released as a lead single by Wizkid, his contribution to the record remains an important part of his international success.
‘Essence’ Expanded His Global Reach
Another major record in Wizkid’s catalogue is Essence, his collaboration with Nigerian singer Tems from the 2020 album Made in Lagos.
The song gained international attention and reached a wider audience in 2021 after Canadian pop star Justin Bieber joined the remix. Its success helped introduce more listeners to Afrobeats and strengthened Wizkid’s global profile.

Beyond these collaborations, the singer has built a catalogue that includes popular tracks such as Ojuelegba, Joro and Come Closer, featuring Drake.
These releases have contributed to his continued influence in Nigerian music and the growing international reach of Afrobeats.
Wizkid’s Streaming Legacy Continues to Grow
Wizkid’s reported streaming milestone reflects years of music releases, international collaborations and songs that continue to attract listeners long after their initial release.
However, the 12-billion figure remains subject to verification, as independent tracking data cited in the report had not yet confirmed that the milestone had been reached.
Regardless of the final tally, Wizkid’s catalogue demonstrates the lasting popularity of his music and his contribution to taking Afrobeats to audiences around the world.
