The Federal Government has officially commenced applications for laptop and smartphone loan under its newly introduced Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) initiative.
The programme is designed to help Nigerians obtain essential digital devices without paying the full cost at once, allowing beneficiaries to spread payments over an agreed period.
The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
It forms part of the government’s broader effort to improve digital inclusion and equip more Nigerians with the tools needed for education, remote work, entrepreneurship and technology-driven careers.
During the unveiling of the programme in Abuja, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, introduced the initiative alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba.
According to the government, the pilot phase will prioritise locally assembled laptops to encourage local manufacturing while making digital devices more accessible.
How to Apply for the C.L.I.C.K.D. Device Loan
Interested Nigerians can submit applications for laptop and smartphone loan through the official C.L.I.C.K.D. online portal.
Applicants are required to provide personal information, including their state of residence and employment status, whether they are salary earners, freelancers, business owners, students, job seekers or members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The application also requires applicants to indicate if they belong to recognised digital talent programmes such as the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, ALX Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Learn2Earn or Genesys Tech Hub.
Applicants must also specify the type of device they need, whether it is a laptop, smartphone, tablet or another digital device.
They are expected to explain the purpose of the request, which may include learning, software development, remote work, freelancing, content creation or business operations.
Before submission, applicants must confirm that the information provided is accurate and consent to being contacted for eligibility assessment.
Who Is Eligible for the First Phase?
Although the application portal is open to interested Nigerians, the Federal Government has clarified that the first rollout will focus on a limited number of beneficiaries.
The current pilot covers the distribution of 1,000 laptops and is specifically targeted at fellows of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.
As part of the initial rollout, 77 beneficiaries in Abuja have already received laptops, while the remaining devices will be distributed across other states in phases.
Speaking during the launch, CREDICORP Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Uzoma Nwagba, explained that the pilot programme serves as the foundation for a wider expansion of digital device financing across the country.
The inclusion of other digital training platforms on the application portal has also generated interest among participants.
While applicants can indicate membership in programmes such as ALX Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Learn2Earn and Genesys Tech Hub, the government has not confirmed whether participants from these programmes will benefit during the current phase.
Interest Rates and Repayment Plan Yet to Be Announced
Despite opening applications for laptop and smartphone loan, CREDICORP has not released key financial details of the scheme.
Information relating to interest rates, repayment duration, monthly instalments and possible upfront payments has not yet been made public.

The agency is expected to provide further clarification as the programme expands beyond the pilot stage.
The launch reflects the Federal Government’s continued investment in digital development by improving access to technology for young Nigerians.
With affordable financing expected to remove barriers to owning digital devices, the initiative is positioned to support students, freelancers, digital creators and professionals seeking to participate more actively in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
