Nigerian content creator and streamer Peller has responded to online reactions over a viral video in which he described someone as “001” and “a user,” insisting that his comments were never directed at Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The controversy began after many social media users assumed Peller was indirectly referring to Davido, who is popularly known by fans as “001.”
The speculation quickly gained attention online, with several blogs and users linking the remarks to the singer.
Peller denies Davido was the target
Reacting to the growing backlash, Peller dismissed the claims and questioned why people immediately concluded he was referring to the award-winning musician.
According to him, Davido was not the person he had in mind when making the statement.
“Una dey mad o. You see some blogger ehn until dey start shooting una for leg. No be Davido me I dey follow o. Yeah, no be am dey I follow talk. How I go dey follow Davido talk?”
The streamer also explained that he never expected Davido to attend his future wedding, adding that even if the singer had shown up, critics would still have found something negative to say.
“Me I no even put mind say Davido go come my wedding because if him come na una still go dey talk say him too dey show for everywhere.”
Peller explains what “001” really meant
Addressing another major point of the controversy, Peller clarified that the phrase “001” should not automatically be associated with Davido.
He argued that the expression can be used to describe anyone who is exceptionally good at what they do, including people with negative traits.
“Nah today I know say people wey call me olodo nah them be olodo uprising. Because how Davido name take be user? Anybody can be 001 in what they are good at.”
Further explaining his statement, Peller said he was referring to people he described as “users,” noting that such individuals could equally be considered “001” because they excel at that particular behaviour.

“I said some people are users, 001 mean they are good in what they do. For some people wey be user, there are 001 in it. Una all just want to bring me down. Davido is 001 in music.”
His clarification has continued to generate mixed reactions across social media, with some users accepting his explanation while others remain unconvinced about the intention behind the original viral comment.
