Popular Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has broken his silence following allegations made by disc jockey DJ Timmy, who accused him of failing to settle an alleged debt and threatened to expose details of the singer’s private life.
The controversy began after DJ Timmy publicly claimed that Dakolo owed him money and issued a deadline for payment.
He further warned that if the alleged debt was not settled, he would reveal what he described as the singer’s alleged sexual escapades to his wife.
The allegations quickly gained attention on social media, with many Nigerians reacting to the public exchange and debating the claims.
Timi Dakolo Denies Owing DJ Timmy
Responding through his legal representative, Timi Dakolo released an official statement on his Instagram page, rejecting the allegations in their entirety.
According to the statement, the claims made by DJ Timmy are false, defamatory, and intended to damage the singer’s reputation.
The statement explained that the alleged debt referenced by the disc jockey relates to expenses connected with venue arrangements, graphic design, domain registration, website fees, video editing, video deposits, and consultation services.
However, Dakolo maintained that he does not owe the amount being claimed and insisted that the accusations have no factual basis.
He also stated that the allegations have caused reputational harm not only to him but also to his family.
Singer Confirms Legal Action Over Allegations
In the same statement, Timi Dakolo disclosed that legal proceedings have already been initiated against DJ Timmy over the allegations and the threats made against him.
The singer’s legal team maintained that the public accusations were capable of damaging his image and should not have been made without credible evidence.
