Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has shared strong opinions about the entertainment industry, describing it as an environment that, in his view, promotes values that are contrary to Christianity.
Speaking during an appearance on The Joey Akan Experience, the actor reflected on his spiritual journey, his years in the spotlight, and how his understanding of fame has changed over time.

Known for playing tough and controversial characters on screen, Jim Iyke said his relationship with God has reshaped the way he now sees success, celebrity culture and the entertainment business.
Jim Iyke says entertainment rarely points people to God
During the interview, Jim Iyke argued that the entertainment industry was intentionally designed to celebrate values that do not honour God.
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live. Entertainment is totally orchestrated and created to extol the virtues of Satanism. Nothing in the industry glorifies God.”
When asked to explain his position further, the actor maintained his stance, saying that although people can intentionally create faith-based content, the industry itself largely celebrates different values.
“What in entertainment glorifies God except you intentionally or consciously go for Him, pursue Him, or find your place in Him? Is it the blatant lies? What do we extol that’s Godly?”
He also acknowledged that he could be corrected if proven wrong but insisted that his comments reflected his personal observations.
According to the actor, he was not suggesting that every movie, song or creative work lacks positive values. Instead, he believes the entertainment industry generally encourages self-promotion and personal glory rather than directing attention to God.
Jim Iyke further linked this culture of self-glorification to what he described as the philosophy behind Satanism.
He explained that many people in the industry become consumed by admiration, influence and the desire to be celebrated, warning that such experiences can create a false sense of importance.
Reflecting on his own career, the actor admitted there was a time he believed the admiration he received from fans meant he was extraordinary.
“I’ve seen people cry when I walk into a room, and I look at them and think I am special. No, you’re not. Once you find your place with God, you’ll understand what is special.”
The accidental audition that changed Jim Iyke’s life
The Nollywood star also spoke about how his acting career began unexpectedly.
According to him, acting was never part of his original plans. At the time, he and a group of friends were simply searching for money to buy beer when they heard about an audition that offered payment to participants.
Jim Iyke recalled attending the audition with the expectation of making quick money. However, once he stood before the audience under the bright lights, he became overwhelmed and struggled with his performance.
Despite what he described as a poor audition, the experience left him with a strong conviction that acting was the career he was meant to pursue.
That unexpected decision would later transform him into one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, earning a reputation for playing intense and often controversial roles.

Years later, Jim Iyke says his perspective has shifted significantly. While he remains one of the industry’s biggest stars, he now believes faith has given him a clearer understanding of success, reminding him that true significance comes from God rather than public admiration.
His remarks have since generated conversations online, with many people debating his assessment of the entertainment industry and the relationship between faith, fame and popular culture.
