The family of Tupac Shakur has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles. They seek damages linked to the rapper’s fatal shooting in 1996. This case comes nearly three decades after the tragedy. The lawsuit names Duane Keefe D Davis as the main defendant. At present, Davis is waiting for trial over his alleged role in the killing. Notably, he remains the only person ever charged in connection with the case. He has pleaded not guilty.

Moreover, Maurice Shakur submitted the complaint. He acts on behalf of the estate. He also represents the interests of their late father, Mutulu Shakur. In the filing, he refers to newly available materials.

Investigators made a key move in September 2023. At that time, they arrested Davis and charged him with murder. Prosecutors claim he played a leading role in organizing the shooting. They link the attack to a confrontation involving Tupac Shakur in a Las Vegas casino.

Furthermore, in court, they described Davis as someone who directed events during the incident. They also cited statements he allegedly made in interviews. In those statements, he placed himself in the vehicle used in the attack.
