Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the African artiste with most Billboard Hot 100 entries, setting a new record on one of the world’s biggest music charts.
The achievement follows the debut of “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, which entered the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 at No. 75.
The song, released as an official soundtrack for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, gives Burna Boy a total of nine career entries on the chart.
Before the latest chart update, Burna Boy and fellow Nigerian singer Tems were tied with eight entries each. The new record now places Burna Boy ahead, making him the African artiste with the highest number of appearances on the Billboard Hot 100.
Speaking through his social media platforms on Tuesday, Burna Boy described the achievement as a significant milestone in his career.
Dai Dai Pushes Burna Boy to New Billboard Record
The song gained global attention after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, helping to increase its popularity among music fans worldwide.
With its debut on the Billboard Hot 100, Burna Boy now holds the record for the most entries by any African artiste on the prestigious U.S. singles chart.
His Billboard Hot 100 appearances include “Loved By You” in 2021, “Last Last” in 2022, “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, “WGFT” in 2025, and “Only You” alongside “Dai Dai” in 2026.
The latest accomplishment also means Burna Boy has become the first African artiste to chart at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years, highlighting his consistent presence in the international music industry.
Spotify Growth and Grammy Recognition Continue
Beyond his Billboard success, Burna Boy recently surpassed 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, marking the highest monthly audience of his career on the streaming platform.
The Afrobeats singer is also preparing for another awards season after earning multiple nominations ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards, further strengthening his reputation as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
With the latest Billboard milestone, Burna Boy continues to expand his international influence while setting new records for African music on the global stage.
