Lafarge Africa Plc has officially changed its corporate identity to HBM Nigeria Plc, marking the beginning of a new phase for one of Nigeria’s leading building solutions companies.
The rebranding reflects the company’s strategic transformation following its integration into the Huaxin Building Materials Group and signals its long-term commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continued investment in Nigeria.
The company announced that while its corporate name has changed, its operations, workforce, customer relationships, shareholder interests, and commitment to supporting the country’s development will remain unchanged.
The transition is expected to strengthen the company’s position in Nigeria’s building and construction industry while maintaining business continuity across its nationwide operations.
HBM Nigeria Plc Signals Long-Term Growth Strategy
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, described the new identity as an important step in the company’s growth journey.
“HBM Nigeria Plc represents an exciting new chapter in our journey as a leading building solutions company. While our corporate identity is evolving, our commitment to Nigeria remains unwavering.
We remain focused on delivering quality cement, concrete, aggregates, and innovative building solutions that support infrastructure development, housing growth, and industrialisation.
This transition positions us for the future while reinforcing the values of excellence, sustainability, customer satisfaction, and responsible business practices that have defined our legacy for decades,” Alade-Akinyemi said.
He explained that the transition to HBM Nigeria Plc would be implemented through a carefully planned and phased process across all business operations nationwide.
According to him, employees, customers, investors, shareholders, host communities, and other stakeholders can expect uninterrupted operations, continued investments, and an even stronger focus on creating lasting economic and social value.
Chairman of HBM Nigeria Plc, Gbenga Oyebode, also expressed confidence that the company is well-positioned for sustainable growth under its new identity.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our shareholders for their continued trust, to the Board and Management for their leadership, and to our employees whose dedication and commitment continue to drive the company forward.

We are confident that HBM Nigeria Plc will continue to create sustainable value for shareholders, strengthen stakeholder trust, and deliver on its long-term ambitions,” Oyebode said.
Government Applauds Company’s Contribution to Infrastructure
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, praised the company for its longstanding contribution to infrastructure development across the country, highlighting its consistent delivery of quality construction materials for major projects.
“I can talk about Lafarge for a whole day because we have come a long way. Though the company is very strict and of high integrity, I can say that their products are impeccable,” Umahi stated.
The unveiling ceremony attracted several prominent dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, representatives of the Lagos and Ogun State governments, traditional rulers from Cross River, Gombe, and Ogun states, members of the company’s board, executives, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.

Although the corporate identity has officially changed, HBM Nigeria Plc confirmed that updates to branding assets, operational systems, and customer-facing communications will continue progressively to ensure a seamless transition without disrupting business activities.
Formerly known as Lafarge Africa Plc, HBM Nigeria Plc is now a member of the Huaxin Building Materials Group, a global construction materials manufacturer founded in 1907 and headquartered in Wuhan, China.
Listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the company operates cement manufacturing plants in Ogun, Gombe, and Cross River states, alongside Ready-Mix operations in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, with an installed cement production capacity of 10.5 million tonnes per annum.
The company says it will continue delivering innovative cement and construction solutions that support Nigeria’s growing demand for housing, infrastructure, and industrial development while creating long-term value for customers, investors, and communities across the country.
