Meryl Streep returns to the spotlight as she prepares to step back into her role in The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel follows the 2006 film that made her portrayal of Miranda Priestly iconic.

Her return comes after past negotiations around her pay gained attention again. She once turned down the original offer before the studio revised the deal.

Now she reflects on that decision and how it influenced her career choices. The new film reunites key cast members and introduces new actors as production moves forward.

Turning Down the First Offer and Change in Approach

Meryl Streep said she read the script and quickly saw its strength. However, she rejected the first offer from the studio. She said she chose not to accept the terms presented to her. Soon after, the production team returned with a better deal.

She requested higher pay, and the studio agreed without delay. She explained this during an interview. She said, “I read the script. Script was great. They made an offer, and I said no, I’m not going to do it.”
