According to the District Attorney’s office, the alleged incident happened on April 23, 2025, when Hernandez arrived at Burke home after her family reported her missing. The filing alleges D4vd stabbed the teenager multiple times and left her to die. Authorities say he later tried to hide the crime by buying items online that could help dispose of a body.

Court documents list a shovel from Home Depot, two chainsaws from Amazon, heavy duty bags, a body bag, and an inflatable pool. Prosecutors also say he used a fake identity to make some of these purchases. They add that he bought equipment meant to destroy or hide evidence.

Investigators say surveillance footage and digital records show Burke moved through isolated areas after the alleged crime. They believe these movements suggest attempts to move or conceal remains. The filing also says forensic analysis links recovered evidence to items he allegedly bought.

Authorities confirmed that they found the remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez inside an impounded Tesla registered to Burke. They identified her through dental records after opening the vehicle in September 2025.

Burke was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on April 16, 2026, and remains in custody without bail. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and continuous sexual abuse of a minor. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or the death penalty.

During a court appearance, Judge Charlaine F Olmedo set a preliminary hearing for May 26 and a status hearing for May 12. The court also denied a defense request to seal parts of the filing and kept the evidence public.
