President Bola Tinubu has approved a new round of appointments into several Federal Government agencies, with former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose taking office as the REA chairman.
The appointments, announced in a statement issued on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, affect 26 individuals across 10 federal agencies and commissions. According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
As REA chairman, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency, working alongside Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.
The agency’s Director-General, Abba Aliyu, and the existing executive directors will also remain on the board.
The Rural Electrification Agency plays a key role in expanding electricity access to underserved and off-grid communities across Nigeria, making the appointment significant for the country’s rural power development efforts.
Other Key Appointments Across Federal Agencies
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission.
Joining the commission are Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas as Secretary, while Ogbole Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Barde were named commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.
Other members appointed into the commission include Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Tor (Enugu), Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Iyabode (Kogi).
The Presidency also announced a change involving Tosin Adeyanju.
“Tosin Adeyanju, who was previously appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has now been moved to the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary,” the statement partly read.
Among the other appointments approved by the President are Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Anthony Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Julius Oloro was also appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing A. R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
Fiscal Responsibility Commission Gets New Board
President Tinubu also approved the constitution of a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
Abdullahi Saidu will serve as Chairman, while Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Onikola were appointed as board members.
In another appointment, Shuni Dahiru was named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, taking over from Shu’aibu Aliyu.
The Presidency stated:
“Shuni Dahiru is the new executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Shu’aibu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.”
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority following the resignation of Mathias Byuan, who left the position to pursue the Benue State governorship.
The statement added:
“To replace Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, who resigned to contest the governorship election in Benue, President Tinubu named Gisaor Iorja.”

It further described Iorja as “an economist, legal scholar, and academic currently serving as the secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).”
The latest appointments form part of the Tinubu administration’s ongoing restructuring of leadership across strategic government institutions responsible for electricity, agriculture, housing, public finance, population management and workers’ welfare.
With the appointments now in effect, the new officials are expected to drive policy implementation and strengthen service delivery in their respective agencies.
